Who enjoys the Sprint ‘not a race’ Races?
Well the good news for those answering yes to that question is that there are 6 sprints to look forward to next year and today Formula 1 have released the venues that they will happen at.
Four circuits will host a sprint for the very first time in 2023. Those are Azerbaijan, Belgium, Qatar and the United States.
Austria hosts a sprint for the second season in row and Brazil maintain their position as only track to host a sprint for every year since its introduction.
The points awarded for the Sprint remain the same, with a maximum of 8 points.ts alloted to the winner and then a point less for each position down until 8th. So they can have a real impact on the championship standings IF we have a close season next year.
Max Verstappen has been vocal about his dislike for the sprint. He states that it shouldn’t set the grid for the race on Sunday as drivers will be more inclined to take greater risks.
