Hannah takes the Mclaren Applied Female Engineer of the Year award, the first winner of the award.

The judges were impressed by her strategic abilities and her ability to make successful split second strategy calls while under pressure.

Hannah Schmitz, who is the Principle Strategy Engineer at Redbull Racing was nominated alongside Krystina Emmanouilides, CFD engineer at Alfa Romeo and Charlotte Phelps, Strategy Engineer at Mercedes.

Schmitz has been a Senior Strategy Engineer at Redbull from 2011, she helped to mastermind several wins for Redbull and Verstappen. Her breakout moment came at the 2019 Brazilian GP, when she called in Verstappen for a fresh set of tires during a late safety car, this move dropped Max behind Lewis, however the Dutch driver had the extra pace to pass Hamilton on his way to victory.

Further consistent strategy calls lead to a promotion to Principle Strategy Engineer for Redbull.
