Well connected Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera have stated that Mattia Binotto will be leaving Ferrari.
Italian media is reporting the imminent removal of Mattia Binotto as Team Principle, with discussions being held with upper management on the terms of the Binotto’s exit.
Binotto’s exit had been speculated prior to the season ending race at Abu Dhabi with Sauber Team Principal, Fred Vassuer tipped to replace him at Marinello.
The speculation forced Ferrari to issue a statement refuting the rumours. It would seem that a change at Ferrari will be happening sooner rather than later.
Ferrari’s 2022 season ended with Charles Leclerc pipping Sergio Perez to second in the Championship, which is scant consolation after the start of the season, with Charles Leclerc enjoying a 40 plus point lead in the Drivers Championship, this was short lived with poor strategy calls, reliability issues and driver errors ended Ferrari’s title challenge before it even got going.
Ferrari’s decision to make the change stems from a loss of confidence in Mattia Binotto from the company’s chairman John Elkann.
