Pole 16 for CL16 in Paul Ricard

Qualifying at Paul Ricard today was full of exciting moments. Upgrades across the field helped shake the order up and we saw that from Q1. Both Hamilton and Verstappen struggled to find clear air in Q1 , the red bull driver having to avoid his own teammate. At the end of a very close Q1 we lost Zhou Guanyu , Lance Stroll , Nicholas Latifi , Pierre Gasly and Mick Schumacher with the Haas driver saving himself from elimination until his fastest lap time was deleted due to track limits placing him back to P19.

In Q2 Carlos Sainz set an amazing lap time very early on closely followed by fellow Ferrari Leclerc and the Red Bulls close behind . A call to go out early for his final run as a precaution for yellow flags by George Russel helped him into Q3 along with teammate Hamilton . At the end of the session we lost Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon , Valterri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel and Alex Albon.

Ferrari have had a strong weekend so far at the Circuit Paul Ricard

Ferrari played the team game in Q3 with Sainz helping give leclerc a slipstream to pull him to pole, Sainz will of course start at the back of the grid due to a new engine for the weekend. Lando Norris puts himself between the two Mercedes’ cars at the last moment after a few tough races the McLaren driver had an amazing qualifying he will start p5.

The Mercedes drivers were on it today putting themselves p- 6(GR) and p- 4(LH) which team principle Toto Wolff will be very happy with after a few challenging few races , it is clear that the upgrades they have brought to The french Grand Prix have helped them improve their pace .

Red bull are targeting a long battle for tomorrows race in the hopes of passing pole sitter Charles Leclerc, but the French Grand Prix is set to be full of exciting battles. The race tomorrow starts at 2pm UK time so be sure not to miss it.
