The F2 Feature Race 2026 British GP saw Tsolov secure his third win in a row. Villagomez finished in second place, with Maini completing the top three.
Start
The race began with a dramatic twist as both pole-sitter Camara and front-row starter Dunne suffered poor launches, immediately dropping down the order. Kush Maini capitalised perfectly, taking the lead after an exceptional start.
Tsolov quickly followed into contention with a particularly bold and confident move, squeezing between two cars with minimal space available. Camara initially held third place but became embroiled in a battle with Dunne, raising doubts about whether he had gained the position legitimately. By lap 2, the gap between first and second had already stretched to 1.7 seconds. Shortly after, Camara conceded the position back.
Lap 4-10
By lap 4, Camara was half a second behind Dunne but struggled to match his pace. On lap 5, Camara appeared to consider an early pit stop in an attempt to execute an undercut strategy.
Further down the field, Rafael Villagómez (P5) and Joshua Dürksen (P7) were the first drivers on the alternative hard tyre strategy. Notably, Dürksen’s lap times were comparable to race leader Maini, despite running on hard tyres.
Lap 6 marked the beginning of the pit window. Maini and Tsolov pitted simultaneously, as did Dunne and Camara. Most drivers on the soft tyre strategy followed suit, creating a congested pit lane where several drivers had to wait for safe release. Despite the chaos, there were no positional changes among those who stopped.
By lap 8, a fierce battle resumed between Maini and Tsolov for the net race lead. However, cold tyres limited overtaking opportunities. Tsolov nonetheless demonstrated remarkable confidence with several assertive attempts.
On lap 9, Villagómez, leading the alternative strategy, began to extend his advantage, building a 2.9-second gap over Dürksen.
Lap 11-20
By lap 13, Villagómez’s advantage had grown significantly, 5.4 seconds ahead of Dürksen and 25 seconds clear of Maini, the race leader among the early stoppers. At this stage, tyre management became critical, with most drivers entering conservation mode.
Lap 17 saw Montoya run wide before reporting an issue. He returned to the pits with rear suspension damage and retired from the race.
On lap 19, Tsolov closed back in on Maini, reducing the gap to under half a second. Despite having DRS, he initially struggled to complete the overtake because his opponent was driving defensively. After several laps of intense and close racing, Tsolov finally made the move stick on lap 20.
Lap 21-29
By lap 21, Tsolov needed to build a sufficient gap to retain the net race lead, particularly with Villagómez still on the alternative strategy and 27.7 seconds ahead.
Lap 22 saw Bennet become the first of the alternative strategy runners to pit.
On lap 24, Mini pitted and rejoined in P12 after a difficult race. Villagómez also made his stop, emerging behind Camara in a net P5 position. Leon and Goethe remained out, hoping for a late safety car intervention.
Leon eventually pitted on lap 26 and rejoined in P9, while Tsolov overtook Goethe, who had yet to make his stop.
Lap 27 proved decisive as Villagómez surged through the field, overtaking both Camara and Dunne in quick succession while setting the fastest lap of 1:43.211.
Goethe finally pitted on lap 28. Villagómez, now on fresh soft tyres, passed Maini with ease. Tsolov maintained a strong pace advantage, 5.8 seconds ahead.
Results
Tsolov took victory, securing his third consecutive F2 Feature Race win. Villagómez finished second after an impressive alternative strategy, while Maini completed the podium.
Notably, Mini finished sixth, consolidating his second place in the championship standings behind Tsolov.
Tsolov’s victory marks a historic achievement, making him the first driver to win three consecutive Formula 2 Feature Races.
