Following last week’s events, it has been announced today that Red Bull Racing have terminated the contract of their 21 year old junior driver Juri Vips. The termination brings to an end the driver’s four year partnership with Red Bull Racing.
The Estonian driver, who was also Red Bull’s test and reserve driver, was heard on a livestream last week using racist language, prompting outrage from many.
Red Bull Racing immediately launched an investigation into the incident and have since posted the following statement to Twitter:
“Following its investigation into an online incident involving Juri Vips, Oracle Red Bull Racing has terminated Juri’s contract as its test and reserve driver.
The team do not condone any form of racism.”
Vips is due to appear at this weeks Formula 2 British Grand Prix with Hitech GP. However, it is unclear at present whether Hitech will continue their contract with the driver.
