Montreal has already delivered a typically chaotic start to the weekend, with Mercedes once again setting the standard in Sprint Qualifying as George Russell secured pole position ahead of Kimi Antonelli after a closely fought session at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Friday’s running was heavily disrupted, with limited practice time and a series of incidents shaping the order.
Alex Albon’s weekend took a major hit after a crash in FP1 following contact with a groundhog. Fernando Alonso also found the barriers during Sprint Qualifying. While Liam Lawson was unable to take part in the session due to technical issues.
With McLaren and Ferrari both in the mix just behind the Mercedes duo, and the field still tightly packed after a messy build-up, there’s plenty still to play for as we head into Saturday’s Sprint Race in Montreal.
