The news will apparently be announced this week in time for one of two home races in Italy for Scuderia Ferrari, the first of which will be taking place at Imola this weekend.
Another first for this year at Imola, its the first sprint of the year, with 3 in total on the calendar. F1 will be looking to perfect the sprint weekend format, with intentions of introducing it at more venues in future seasons.
Ferrari are leading the Drivers and Constructors championship. Charles Leclerc is currently leading the drivers championship on 71 points with a difference of 34 points to second place Mercedes’ George Russell on 37, and Carlos Sainz rounding the top 3 on 33 points
Despite Carlos not finishing the last race in Melbourne due to a steering wheel issue; it seems the prancing horse outfit are happy with the Spaniards performance and having a long term contract under his belt will give Sainz the confidence to move forward with the team.
