Formula has announced that there will no longer be an organised We Race As One gesture in 2022.
From 2022, Formula 1 will be moving away from this gesture, they will now focus on a more action orientated approach to the WRAO initiative.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali told Sky Sports F1: “No, I think that what we said [is] we do not have to do politics.
“Now it’s the matter [of moving] from gesture to action [and] now the action is the focus on the diversity of our community and this is the first step.
“The gesture has been important for the ones that believed it was an important gesture because we need to respect everyone as always. But now is the time to move on and take some other action.”
Formula 1 has extended the funding of the Formula 1 Engineering Scholarship programme for underrepresented groups until 2025.
The scholarship program pays all expenses for the duration of the student’s studies, the students will also work with a Formula 1 team during their studies.
With the promise of funding now in place to 2025, it will allow Formula 1 to fund 10 students each year till 2025.
