Green Light

As the green light shone at the end of the pit lane, FP3 was underway.

Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon for Haas were the first two cars out on track, both on the Medium tyre. The first lap of the day, a 1:33.986, was set by the British driver.

Lando Norris was the next driver to make his mark with a 1:32.379 for McLaren, occupying the top spot. Teammate Oscar Piastri slotted in behind him with a 1:32.554.

It is enough for both McLaren drivers to finish in the top seven this weekend to claim the Constructor’s Championship.

With 50 minutes remaining, 17 cars had taken to the track. There was no movement from Max Verstappen or the Mercedes duo of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

A brief yellow flag was waved for Franco Colapinto who found the escape route.

Tumbling Times

Baku’s third place finisher Carlos Sainz was the next driver to set the pace with a 1:31.960 for Williams. Teammate Alex Albon slotted in +0.357s behind him, both on the Soft tyre.

However, Norris was able to top the timesheet once again with a 1:31.021, remaining on the Medium compound.

Red Flag

It was disaster for Liam Lawson, experiencing his second crash in two days.

The Racing Bulls driver beached the car over the kerb at Turn 7, lost control, and crashed into the barrier.

Despite reporting that he was OK, it will be frantic repair job before Qualifying.

Session Resumed

With 36 minutes remaining, the debris was cleared, and the session resumed.

Norris still led the way for McLaren, followed by former teammate Sainz and Bearman.

Crucially, the Mercedes drivers were able to set their first flying laps of the session. It was fifth for Russell with a 1:31.707, whilst Antonelli slotted in +0.740s behind him, both on the Soft compound.

Meanwhile, another brief yellow was waved as Sainz found the escape road at Turn 14.

The Red Bull of Verstappen moved into fifth on the Medium compound, half a second down on session leader Norris.

It was a strong lap from Antonelli on the Soft tyre, clocking a 1:30.760 and climbing to the top of the timesheet.

15 Minutes Remaining

There was a lull in the pit lane with 15 minutes of the session remaining, with just Fernando Alonso, Charles Leclerc and Isack Hadjar out on track.

However, the rest of the field were quick to follow, ready for their final practice runs.

The Ferrari of Leclerc was the next front-runner to set a time on the Soft compound, charging to the top with a 1:30.651.

Unsurprisingly, Norris was quick to replace the Monegasque with a 1:30.292. Piastri slotted in +0.335s behind him.

Lewis Hamilton split the two McLarens with a 1:30.559, with the Ferrari driver noted for a red flag infringement by the stewards.

Proving to be McLaren’s kryptonite once again, Verstappen stormed to the top with a 1:30.148 for Red Bull. Russell slotted in +0.049s behind him.

In the final minute, Piastri slotted into second with a late improvement, +0.017s behind the Dutchman.
