Sophia Flörsch and HMD Motorsports have mutually agreed to part ways with one another for the remainder of the 2025 Indy NXT Season. The news comes after the duo were together for just one round – the season opener in St. Petersburg.

Thermal Club Grand Prix – Five Key Takeaways

“As we move onwards in 2025, HMD Motorsports and Sophia Flörsch have mutually agreed to part ways for the remainder of the Indy NXT by Firestone season. HMD Motorsports wishes Sophia the best of luck in her future endeavours.” – HMD Motorsports

At the first round of the year, Flörsch put in a solid rookie performance. In the first practice session, she finished in fifteenth place. By the end of the second, and despite battling some technical issues which would persist across the remainder of the weekend, she finished in eighteenth.

In qualifying, Sophia put the car into seventeenth place, but finished ninth in her qualifying group. During the race on Sunday, the German Driver proceeded to make up positions over the course of the race. She would finish in twelfth place and gain 18 Championship points for her efforts.

Earlier in the year Flörsch hit the ground running in pre-season testing. She finished sixth overall and fifth amongst the full-time drivers as she made her debut for HMD Motorsports. Flörsch was less than half a second behind, now Championship leader and teammate, Dennis Hauger. She was also less than a hundredth of a second ahead of her other teammate Caio Collet, who was rookie of the year last year.

Future results looked promising based off this information but after this news, it doesn’t look like we’ll get to see what might have been.

According to Feeder Series, the “decision was made on budgetary grounds”.

There has been no word yet as to whether or not Sophia Flörsch will remain in Indy NXT for the remainder of the 2025 season with another outfit or if she will be off to pastures new.
