F1 Qualifying Australian Grand Prix 2025

The season kicks off under the roaring sun in Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix Qualifying. The fight for pole position at the first race of the season is on, and promises drama and surprises. We also get a glimpse into what’s to come this season.

Q1: Shock Results and Disappointed Rookies

Redbull driver Liam Lawson stunned fans after a knockout in the first stint of qualifying. Lando Norris topped the timesheet with a 1:15:912, narrowly edging George Russel and Max Verstappen. The battle to escape the elimination zone was fierce. In the end, both haas drivers Bearman and Ocon failed to progress, along with Lawson, Hulkenburg and Antonelli.

Q2: Aston Martin Out!

Q2 saw another impressive performance from Norris, who topped the session with a roaring 1:15:415, just 0.053 seconds ahead of his Papaya teammate Oscar Piastri. Max Verstappen followed closely in third, mean whilst Russel and Leclerc rounded out the top 5. The battle to make it into the final session was intense, however Isaac Hadjar narrowly missed his chance to debut Q3 in the first race weekend of his F1 career. Both Aston Martin’s failed to progress into the last session of qualifying, followed by Jack Doohan and Garbriel Bortoleto.

Q3: Papaya on top!

Lando Norris claimed a stunning pole position for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, leading a McLaren front row lockout with Pastri securing second place in front of his home crowd. Max Verstappen had to settle for third, with Russel who took fourth for Mercedes. Yuki Tsunoda delivered an impressive performance for Racing Bulls, putting him in great 5th position.

A strong start to the season for McLaren

McLaren lead the way ahead of the 2025 Australian Grand Prix Qualifying, after consistent and speedy performances, they put themselves in an ideal position for the main event tomorrow.
