As Christian Mansell embarks on his first full season in FIA Formula 2 with Rodin Motorsport, the Australian driver is making an impression off the track. He is also using his platform to speak out on key issues within the motorsports community.

For many young drivers, their online presence is strictly about racing. Trying not to dive into the ‘politics’ of the sport. However, Mansell has taken a different route, choosing to address topics that affect fans and his fellow competitors.

A Voice for Positive Change

Mansell has been outspoken on social media, using his growing platform to highlight issues such as fan treatment, online gossip, and inclusivity within motorsport. When asked about the importance of issues, Mansell emphasised the importance of using his voice for something constructive.

“I think, personally, it’s a fantastic thing to do… using your platform for something positive rather than just letting it sit.” Mansell explained.

“I’ve always been at a point of interest, a point of difference. With me being diabetic and a lot of other things, it felt right to keep on being that point of difference for people.”

Despite the FIA’s tightening regulations on what ‘political statements’ drivers can make, Mansell remains committed to advocating for a positive change.

Calling Out Gossip Culture in Motorsport

One of Mansell’s most notable social media moments came in late 2024. The rookie driver addressed the growing trend of online gossip accounts targeting F2 and F3 drivers and their personal lives. In a widely shared tweet, he called for an end to the speculation and harassment around driver’s relationships and personal matters.

“Let’s all just give the gossip and rumour accounts for F2/3 drivers and their Girlfriends A BREAK,” Mansell wrote.

“You are toying with young girls’ lives and for what? A laugh? This behaviour is so childish and I truly don’t understand why a person would ever make/participate in these pages.”

This powerful message struck a chord with many. It has attracted over 185,000 views. Ultimately opening up a conversation on the unseen side of fame for young athletes and their loved ones. Furthermore, it brought to light an often-overlooked issue in motorsport fandom: the personal cost of intrusive speculation.

Mansell’s stance on inclusivity within motorsport

The online activism of Christian Mansell goes far beyond issues that directly impact him or his loved ones. Acknowledging the hardships faced by fans who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

“I wish we could live in a world that doesn’t require a public figure or a sports person to bring attention to the world’s problems,” he wrote.

“But we live in a world of social media, and this is sometimes, and most of the time, where all the problems start.”

His message of support has touched thousands of motorsports fans. Creating a safe-space for them to feel as though they belong.

“To all the trans people and everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, I don’t judge you, I don’t feel hate towards you, I accept you for who you are. Don’t let the world tell you who you want to be. Find people you love and who support you.”

The young driver’s willingness to take a stance, in an era where athletes fear backlash for speaking out has resonated with fans. Making him a very popular driver on the Formula 2 grid in 2025.

Formula 2 in 2025

The Australian Driver is now preparing for his first full season in Formula 2. Having three races of experience under his belt, Mansell is ready to tackle the challenge of Formula 2.

With the Aussie driver claiming his team is not scared of fielding two rookies.

“…We believe that we’re in a good place. We can maximise the package and as much as a second-year driver or a third-year driver. So we’re honestly not too worried about the lack of experience we managed to get all of the basics, done very quickly.”
