Ollie Bearman has been called up for the remainder of F1 Brazilian Grand Prix. He will be replacing Kevin Magnussen in Haas for his third Grand Prix in 2024.

Magnussen, who initially aimed to compete in practice sessions on Friday at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, reported feeling unwell. Subsequently he was withdrawn from Friday’s sessions and Saturday’s Sprint race.

Bearman received the call to stand in for the Dane on Friday morning, giving him minimal time to prepare for the high-speed demands of Interlagos. The substitute role marked his third last-minute appearance this season, following his stand-ins earlier this year for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia and again for Magnussen in Azerbaijan.

Sprint Race Shoot-out brilliance

Despite the quick switch, Bearman delivered an impressive performance. In Saturday’s Sprint Qualifying, he progressed to SQ3. Managing to outperform his teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who took P12. Bearman reflected on the achievement, saying, “Making it to SQ3 with just a few hours to adjust was both exciting and challenging, and I’m thrilled with the outcome.”

For Haas, Bearman’s performance comes as a promising sign. The Brit will be racing full-time for the team in 2025. With his 3 Grand Prix’s of experience under his belt, Haas will be able to hit the ground running in 2025. With the team hoping to make their way up the constructors standings.

Bearman’s season inFormula 2

Despite his several Formula 1 call-ups, Bearman is still competing with PREMA Racing in Formula 2. Bearman and PREMA have not had the greatest of seasons in 2024. With the team sitting 4th in the constructors standings far off their normal 1st or 2nd.

However, the farewells will be emotional, with only 2 rounds remaining, as well as Bearman and Antonelli graduating to F1.
