In an already chaotic day for Williams, Alex Albon has been disqualified from Qualifying at the 2024 Dutch GP after the stewards determined the floor of his car to be illegal.

The crushing blow comes after the team’s second driver, Logan Sargeant, crashed in FP3, causing too much damage to the FW46 for it to be driven in Quali. As a result, Sargeant classified in P20 while Albon posted the eight quickest time – however both drivers will now start at the back of the grid tomorrow.
The official FIA document says “

Albon being disqualified at the Dutch GP is just another disappointment for the Grove outfit, who have struggled to get off the line this season. Alex Albon has accumulated 4 points this season with points finishes in Monaco and Silverstone, but Sargeant is yet to score a point. The American driver is due to be replaced by Carlos Sainz, who will make the move from Ferrari due to the signing of Lewis Hamilton, at the end of the year.
On a track like Zandvoort where the weather is unpredictable and the racing is fierce, both drivers will be looking to capitalise on any mistakes in front tomorrow during the race to claw back some positions.
