Tuukka Taponen to Drive in F3 For 2024 Belgian GP Weekend

Ferrari Driver Academy driver Tuukka Taponen is set to drive in this weekend’s F3 2024 Belgian GP Weekend as a replacement for ART’s Nikola Tsolov.

The 17-year-old Finnish driver, who currently drives in the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship, will compete in the second ART car. However, Taponen will only be in the car for one race as a replacement for the Bulgarian driver who sits in P8 in the Championship.

The sanction comes after Tsolov was found to have breached the strict sporting regulations, competing outwith F3 without informing the FIA or seeking authorisation beforehand. The ART driver was deemed to have gained a “sporting advantage” having competed in Spa already this season with Eurocup-3, and consequently was handed a race ban and four points on his licence.

At the F3 2024 Belgian GP weekend, Taponen will compete alongside Christian Mansell and Laurens van Hoepen. The trio will be looking to strengthen their bid for the 2024 Teams title. With just two race weekends left in the season, the heat is on to hunt down Championship leaders PREMA Racing and hold onto that P2 position.
