Kimi Antonelli won the F2 Feature Race at the 2024 Hungarian GP. It is his first feature race win and his second overall of the season. Martins followed behind in P2 while Verschoor completed the podium.
What to Know
Championship leader Hadjar started the F2 Feature Race at the 2024 Hungarian GP from the pit lane. He was due to start P3. Title rival Aron remained on Pole, with a chance to close the gap between the pair.
Fittipaldi started P2 with Bortoleto in P4. Martins, Hauger, Antonelli, and Maloney followed. Maini, who inherited the Sprint win yesterday, began P9 while Verschoor, who was disqualified for a technical infringement post-race on Saturday, started P10.
Lights Out
Aron lost his first place to Martins who took the lead from P5 on the grid. Fittipaldi followed in second while a lock-up for the Pole sitter saw him down to P7.
Maloney was up four places from P8 while Hadjar caught up with the action from the pit lane. He was P20. He soon made up places to reach P18.
By Lap 6 Antonelli and Maloney began to fight the in the middle sector. The Prema driver fought through at Turns 8 through to 11 and was up to P4.
Safety Car
After fighting with Hauger for P6, Aron went into Turn 2 trying to pass the MP Motorsport car. However, contact with Maloney ahead sent both into a spin, which took both out of the race.

As a result, Martins, Fittipaldi, Bortoleto, Hauger, O’Sullivan, Bearman, Duerksen, Colapinto, and Hadjar swapped their Softs for Hards in a series of pit stops.
Antonelli led from Verschoor and Maini who both were running the Hard tyres. Martins came out P4 following his stop. Cordeel and Miyata ran P5 and P6 but were yet to pit. They were followed by Fittipaldi, Bortoleto, Villagomez, and Barnard in the top 10. The latter pair had yet to stop also.
Lap 11-21
Antonelli began the Feature Race with a healthy gap over Verschoor. Bortoleto passed Fittipaldi at Turn 1 to take P7. On Lap 12, Barnard went around the outside of Villagomez to take P9. Then on Lap 13, Villagomez was passed by Hauger at Turn 1, with the Norwegian taking P10.
Miyata went wheel-to-wheel with Cordeel at Turns 1 and 2 on Lap 14 but the Hitech Pulse-Eight driver held on to P5. However, a mistake at Turn 11 allowed the Rodin Motorsport driver to take the place at Turn 12.
Martins took third from Maini at the first corner on Lap 15 while Bortolet cleared Cordeel along the main straight. Fittipaldi took P7 from the Belgian also on the run up to Turn 4.
Lap 16 saw Barnard pull ahead of Cordeel into T2. He was P8 but was yet to pit. Elsewhere, Bortoleto was stuck behind Miyata while Martins escaped five seconds up the road.
A battle between those who had pitted and those who had not began to form. Martins was on the move to take P2 from Verschoor at Turn 1. Behind them. Bortoleto moved ahead of Miyata to take P5 in the same corner.
Antonelli led Martins by 6.3s but still had to take his mandatory pit stop. The ART driver did not.
Safety Car #2
Cordeel hit the barriers out of Turn 4. He reported that he was fine and was out of the car but there was a lot of debris to clean up. This meant that those were yet to pit had their chance now, including Antonelli who was in from the lead. Softs went on and he re-joined the circuit P5.

Martins now led the race once again from Bortoleto, Fittipaldi, Hauger, Antonelli, Colapinto, O’Sullivan, Bearman, Hadjar, and Verschoor. Everyone had now made their mandatory pit stop.
Lap 27-37
The race restarted under normal conditions on Lap 27. Martins got his restart right and kept the lead but Antonelli, with the pace advantage thanks to his fresher tyres, was on the move immediately. He took P4 from Hauger at Turn 1 and then was straight past Fittipaldi at Turn 2. The Prema driver was now P3.
Meanwhile, Hadjar had dropped out of the points with Crawford taking P10 in the DAMS Lucas Oil car.
Antonelli cleared Bortoleo at the first corner on Lap 28 and was up to P2. By Lap 29 the Mercedes Junior had DRS and took the lead. Two corners later he was already a second clear from Martins in P2.
Lap 31 saw Antonelli’s lead extend to 4.5s while Bortoleto was within DRS range of Martins in the fight for second place. Much like Antonelli, Verschoor was also fitted for the Softs under the Safety Car and was up to P5 after a pass on Hauger at Turn 2.
A mere singular lap later, Verschoor was up to P4 after clearing Fittipaldi at Turn 1.
By Lap 35, Martins had pulled clear and out of Bortoleto’s DRS range, who was under pressure from Verschoor for the final spot on the podium. On Lap 36, Verschoor went wheel-to-wheel with Bortoleto at Turn 1 and took P3 from the Invicta Racing driver.
Kimi Antonelli is an F2 Feature Race winner for the first time after a smooth drive to P1. It is his second win of 2024. Behind him in P2 was Martins who kept Verschoor behind him in P3.
