Charles Leclerc ‘not feeling good’ after struggles since Monaco

Charles Leclerc admitted he ‘doesn’t feel good’ after the struggles of three races with no points in just four race weekends. The struggles for the team came after upgrades seemingly pushed the car in the wrong direction.

The beginning part of the 2024 season seemed incredibly promising for Ferrari. Carlos Sainz won in Australia and Charles Leclerc has been really consistent, finishing in the top 5 in every race. As well as Leclerc finally taking the elusive home win at the Monaco Grand Prix.

However, immediately after Monaco, both Ferrari’s faced a double DNF. In Austria, lap 1 contact led to Charles Leclerc doing 4 pit stops and failing to score points. Most recently, in Silverstone, the team reverted back to the Imola specification.

Leclerc only got the Imola specification on Saturday. Which meant he only had one practice session to get used to it before qualifying. Then in the race, Charles Leclerc was pitted onto intermediate tyres too early, causing him to fall a lap behind.

Charles Leclerc admitted that he originally thought putting on the intermediate tyres was the right move. “I was quite confident that this was the right choice with the information I got in the car,” however, he said “I heard the rain was intensifying a lot and would be very heavy the lap after but the thing is the rain came eight laps later.”

“It stopped raining actually the lap that we stopped and for eight laps there was basically no water.”

From the high of winning his home race after years of bad luck to the low of three non points scoring weekends. The Monégasque admitted the mistakes and struggled from the team were ‘too much now’.

He told Sky Sports, “It’s been too many races, and I don’t even know what to say anymore when I am coming here [The media pen].”

Charles Leclerc admitted one of the hardest part of the recent struggles is that it is a different thing each weekend that doesn’t ‘click’, which makes it harder to fix.

Now that the triple header is over, there is a week break. Leclerc recognised the importance of this break for the team, taking it as an opportunity to ‘reset.’

“We will try to put everything together in Budapest. Definitely, we need to speak with the team about the decisions process and understanding what we can do better. In order for me to have more information in critical moments like these.”
