F2: Bortoleto Loses Podium Following Scuffle with Maini in Silverstone Sprint

Invicta Racing’s Gabriel Bortoleto has been stripped of his P3 result in the Silverstone F2 Sprint. The McLaren junior was handed a five-second penalty post-race for overtaking his teammate off of the track at the final corner of the race.

The trophy now goes to his teammate Kush Maini, who was embroiled in a battle with Bortoleto throughout the Silverstone F2 Sprint. While the result will not affect the points the duo have gathered for the Constructors’ Championship, it will affect the Bortoleto’s Championship bid.

Bortoleto and Maini currently sit in P3 and P9 respectively in the Drivers’ Championship. However, with the two Championship leaders retiring in the Sprint, Bortoleto will lose crucial points which would have helped him inch towards the title at the midway point.

The two Invicta drivers will now look to the Feature race, where Bortoleto starts in P6 and Maini in P8. The race will commence tomorrow morning at 09:55am UK time.
