The 28-year-old driver says “It was the best race of the year” so far, as the french outfit recorded their third points scoring weekend in a row, with Gasly P9 and teammate Esteban Ocon P10.

This continues to build on Alpine’s Constructors Championship position, jumping Haas in the standings by one point.

The Frenchman said, “A very strong qualifying yesterday, a strong race too. We managed to battle with one McLaren for some laps and also a Red Bull.

“We need to understand why this track suits our package more than the other race tracks, but I am very pleased for the team and the direction we are heading.” he added.

Alpine’s Progress

After the first double Q3 appearance for Alpine since the 2023 American Grand Prix, it was a pleasant surprise for the Enstone team to win some points without much contention, something which they havent experienced so far this year.

This comes after bringing major upgrades to the Miami Grand Prix four rounds ago. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is the only occasion since this introduction where the team have failed to score any points.

The Spanish Grand Prix is the first in a triple header of events, with the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg and British Grand Prix at Silverstone having similar high downforce, high speed corners to the Barcelona Circuit.

“It will be really important to repeat these kinds of performances in the coming races.

“It shows there is potential in certain circumstances.” he also added.
