Yesterday’s Qualifying session saw Abbi Pulling top the timesheet to begin from pole position today. Alongside her was Chloe Chambers in P2 and Spanish driver Nerea Martí in P3.

Lights Out

Pole sitter Abbi Pulling nailed her start while Doriane Pin stalled hers and found herself at the back of the grid after starting P4.

Contact at Turn 1 occurred between Martí and Chambers. Chambers received a black and white flag for causing this.

Shortly after, Maya Weug and Amna Al. Qubaisi made contact with each other and were out of the race. A safety car was deployed.

Weug hit the back of Lola Lovinfosse, causing her to go into the back of A. Al Qubaisi. The collision was placed under investigation.

Your top five for the first six laps were Pulling, Martí, Chambers, Bustamante, and H. Al Qubaisi.

Green Flag

The track went green again on Lap 7. Pulling lead the pack with Martí and Chambers behind her in P2 and P3 respectively.

Jessica Edgar and Tina Hausmann fought for P6, with British driver Edgar winning their battle. Emely De Heus saw this as her opportunity to chase Hausmann for P7 with the Red Bull junior overtaking for the position.

It was not all good news for Edgar, however, as she was placed under investigation for a false start. She received a five second time penalty.

Pulling, who this weekend was looking to extend her lead within the championship, gained a +1.5 second gap from the pack.

With six laps remaining, Pulling had a two second lead.

Elsewhere, championship contender Pin, who stalled at the beginning of the race, overtook Lovinfosse for P10.

The other on track battle occurred between Hausmann and Lia Block for P8. In a shock move, Pin soon chased Block for P9 into Turn 1. The PREMA driver slowly moved up the grid. Her teammate Hausmann did all she could to keep her behind.

Final Few Laps

The line-up remained unchanged as the drivers headed for the final few laps of Race 1 of the F1 Academy 2024 Barcelona GP weekend.

Pulling was comfortably ahead with Marti and Chambers secure in their podium finish positions.

Hausmann went wide, which allowed Pin to slide into P8. The PREMA teammates reversed positions for points finishes.

On the final lap, Bustamante chased Chambers for P3 but ultimately could not get past.

Your Race 1 podium was Pulling, Martí, and Chambers.

Pulling has a 54-point lead in the championship. The British driver will start on Pole tomorrow in Race 2 with Chambers P2 and Pin P3.
