Lewis and Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton will have spent 12 years at Mercedes by the end of 2024, and has never driven a car that has not had Mercedes power.
Hamilton began his career at Mercedes winning his first championship in 2008 in dramatic fashion at the final race of the season in Brazil. Lewis would remain with McLaren until 2013, where he would head to Mercedes.

Over the course of the following 11 seasons the British driver would win 6 more Drivers Championships in what looked like a partnership that would continue until the end of Lewis’s career.
Ferrari …??
With the news that the deal for Lewis to head to Ferrari is all but agreed, what could have influenced the decision?
Hamilton has said that a stint at Ferrari would be a fitting way to end his career, however he has also stated that he expected to remain with Mercedes until he retired.
The decision to head to Ferrari will have many different influences, some of which we will probably never know, however some we can assume to be a big part in the move.
Competitiveness has been a big issue for Mercedes since the new regulations came into Formula 1. Mercedes insistence at sticking with their “zero sidepod” concept for the majority of the last two seasons has seen them drop away from a serious title challenge,
with Redbull seemingly perfecting the new rules, Mercedes mis-step had a bigger effect on the once dominant team.
Lewis heading to Ferrari is not without risks, questions still remain on if the Italian outfit can remain competitive throughout the season and how will a Leclerc/Hamilton partnership evolve?
This is one of the biggest and surprising driver moves in recent memory, we will all remember where we were when Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari ….
