Although the British team have been struggling over the last few years, they are the second most successful team of all time. Only being beaten by Ferrari! The historic team has achieved amazing things during their time on the grid. Including 100 wins alongside seven drivers’ championships and nine constructors’ titles during their time in the sport.

“Over our 46-year history, the team has achieved incredible results. With nine constructors’ championships and seven drivers’ titles to our name we are the second most successful Formula 1 team of all time, only behind Ferrari.”

800 Grand Prix is no easy feat, and despite seeing numerous teams come and go, Wiliams are still standing. It felt fitting that Williams’ 800th was supposed to be their home race, Silverstone. However, due to Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend not going ahead, the moment will officially arrive at Budapest instead.

“Reaching the milestone of our 800th Grand Prix is a remarkable achievement for Williams Racing… We are incredibly proud of our history and the legacy built over the years.”

How Are Williams Racing Celebrating 800 GP’s?

To mark the momentous occasion, Williams has a few things lined up.

The first of which is a livery exclusively designed for their home race at the Silverstone track. No one has had eyes on the livery yet, but in a teaser statement, Williams revealed that “The striking Silverstone design will pay homage to the team’s British heritage and to its founder, the late Sir Frank Williams.”  A special emblem will be added to the FW45 livery in Hungary to officially celebrate the 800th GP.

The new livery is not the only thing Williams have lined up for fans over the British Grand Prix weekend, however. Williams are planning to bring their 1993 double title winning FW14B out of retirement to celebrate the Team’s history. Brand Ambassador and 2009 World Champion, Jenson Button is set to be jumping into the cockpit for several demonstration laps on race day.

Alongside the activities at SIlverston, WIlliams’ fanzone will be open in London, at 48 Regent Street, Piccadilly, from Monday to Sunday of the British GP week. Fans will be treated to appearances from current drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant as well as Jenson Button and Team Principal James Vowles.

The fanzone will showcase a selection of heritage cars, including Alain Prost’s 1993 championship-winning machine and state-of-the-art simulators. As well as a fan store and a STEM education area, aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators.

Vowels encourages fans to come and celebrate the achievement over the historic Silverstone week.

“We invite all our fans to join us in this celebration as we pay tribute to our iconic past and look towards a bright future.”
