Formula 1 had been in discussions with all relevant parties and authorities, with the outcome being that they would be unable to provide a safe environment for the event to proceed.
Several Rumours and ideas but only one option
Throughout the last 24 hours, several different ideas had appeared on social media regarding how they could hold the race, including condensing the event to 2 days or have it as a closed doors race, similar to the COVID season, however, the ever worsening situation in the surrounding areas and the pressures on the emergency services it soon became clear that the race could not be held.

Cancellation or Postponement?
Formula 1 has announced that the Emilia Romagna GP will not take place, however it has stopped short in stating that it been out right cancelled or even postponed. The more likely scenario is that Formula 1 will attempt to find an alternative date for the race, with the weekend of August 4th to 6th being mentioned, however if that can not be achieved that the race would ultimately be cancelled.
