It’s an agonizing wait for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as they must hold on for three more grands prix before McLaren introduces a significant upgrade package.
The major McLaren Upgrades for the MCL60 are slated for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix in June and the F1 British Grand Prix in July.

Unfortunately, before we reach those races, we have the Emilia-Romagna, Monaco, and Spain grands prix lined up. Talk about frustrating anticipation for the drivers.
“The next sizable package of updates will arrive before the summer break.”
Andrea Stella, McLaren Team principal
McLaren plans to spread out the updates between the Canadian Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix. It’s all about timing, folks.
The F1 Austrian Grand Prix is sandwiched between Canada and Silverstone, but don’t expect any new additions from McLaren at the Red Bull Ring.
“We will definitely avoid bringing new updates to Austria because that will be a sprint shootout and sprint race weekend. And given the amount of updates we will bring, we are not confident in bringing them to an event that will be very similar to Baku.”
Stella Explains
In Baku, McLaren unveiled the new floor. However in the upcoming races, they will bring even bigger things.
McLaren’s start to 2023 hasn’t been impressive, to say the least. Norris and Piastri have only managed to score points in one out of five grands prix so far. Very disappointing.
There was a glimmer of hope when Norris finished sixth in Azerbaijan with the new floor. But that hope quickly vanished when he finished 17th in Miami.
Norris had expressed his optimism, thinking that the new floor was just the beginning of serious development. But alas, it looks like he’ll have to wait a bit longer. Patience is a virtue, Lando.
In the upcoming F1 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, both Mercedes and Ferrari will unleash high-profile upgrades in their pursuit of Red Bull.
But what about McLaren Upgrades?
“There will be small developments at Imola. But only minor ones compared to the step we need to take to be consistently in the points, which is our goal.”
Stella reveals
There you have it, folks! McLaren is keeping us on the edge of our seats, making us wait for those upgrades. Will they be worth it? Only time will tell. But if you are a McLaren fan you will be hoping this will be the light at then end of the tunnel.
