McLaren may be down in the dumps after a shaky start to the 2023 season.
However things are looking up for driver, Lando Norris. In the virtual world, anyway.

A new study by online gaming platform, Solitaire showed that the Brit racked up 22 million views across his 51 streamed games.
This means he overtakes Brazilian football icon, Neymar Jr to take first place among the celebrity gamers.

What is Twitch?
Founded in 2011, Twitch is a platform for live video streaming, offering nearly anything you’d want to watch, from cooking, music, Q&A sessions, and — the leading driver of traffic — video games.
It originally started as a spinoff division of Justin.tv, with gaming as the main priority.
Twitch became so popular it led to an entire rebrand of Justin.tv, which changed its name to Twitch Interactive in 2014. Then, later that year, Twitch Interactive was acquired by Amazon.
The Twitch Quartet
This won’t come as a surprise to some.
Norris grew his online following significantly during the Covid-19 lockdown.
He was one part of the ‘Twitch Quartet’ which also included George Russell, Charles Leclerc and Alex Albon.
They regularly kept us entertained and Lando has used this as a platform to get into E Sports.
He along with others involved in motorsport have set up Quadrant – an E Sports and content creation team.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson for Solitaired said:
“This level of interaction through each live stream is how popular Twitch streamers have managed to build up highly engaged audiences.”
“So it’s great to see such a wide range of celebrities from different backgrounds creating accounts to engage with their fans.”
“It’s interesting to note the range of celebrities, even just in the top ten most followed, from footballers, musicians to politicians; it’s amazing to see how welcoming the Twitch community is to a diverse range of streamers.”
With McLaren currently struggling for points, we might see Norris’s Twitch streams increase further.
Gaming may be an outlet that he need if their season doesn’t improve.
At least he finally got the 1st place he deserves.
Even if it isn’t quite the accolade he wanted.
